Surviving Winter grants of £200 now available for households experiencing fuel poverty in Dorset (including BCP)

Every year Dorset Community Foundation runs the Surviving Winter campaign, raising money to support older and vulnerable people in fuel poverty (age 50+) who cannot afford to adequately heat their homes over the winter. This can have a devastating impact on health, especially for elderly people and those with existing conditions or undergoing/recovering from medical treatment. We especially encourage those who receive the Winter Fuel Allowance to donate this to the appeal, if they can afford to do so – enabling them to support a peer who lives locally and is in less fortunate circumstances.

For more information and to donate to the appeal please see our webpage: https://www.dorsetcommunityfoundation.org/appeals/surviving-winter/

To apply for a Surviving Winter grant or to support someone to do so, please either contact your local Citizens Advice office, call the Citizens Advice dedicated fuel poverty advice line on 01929 775500 or email their dedicated fuel poverty email address at [email protected].

Citizens Advice can also provide additional advice and support on fuel poverty issues and other related concerns, including other possible sources of financial support or home improvements to help lower fuel bills.
